Celebrating Another Decade!

On September 7th, 1997, this young girl was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. She went on to live in three different states, have many career ideas in her mind, lost interest in all things she loved but that did not stop her from going forward in life. Today, that girl is still trying to figure out what she wants at the prime age of 20. Gosh, I am old!

I recently started my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina. So, I wanted to give you a little update on what has been happening in my life so far. I went through sorority recruitment with lots of tears and twisted ankles. I joined the house where I feel the most conformable in so I would like to say I am officially an Alpha Gamma Delta.

For those who do not know sorority recruitment, it is pretty much a process where you are trying to show girls that you are meant to be apart of their sisterhood. Sadly, I had to deal with a lot of judgements during the process but by the end of it, I was able to call one of my favorite houses my home.

For my birthday I was able to celebrate in style with my new sisters at my first function, Fall Band. Although I did not stay there very long, I was able to wear my outfit that I have been hoarding for months. I absolutely love this romper from Urban Outfitters as it shows some skin but not too much to make it revealing.

This coming week, I will be initiated so I will be an Alpha Gam for life, which is kind of scary to me. I am excited and nervous for what is left to come. I absolutely love my big and I am slowly and surely making friends but it is still early in the semester.

Other than my life being about Greek Life, I am taking classes in my major, looking for internships and possibly double minoring. I am still trying to discover who I am, which I still hard. But I am only 20.

I will attempt to make a return on blogging, probably not too soon, but I do miss being able to take pictures of my outfits and writing. I am debating whether I should continue with this blog or not, and I doubt that people are reading anymore. I just hope to go back to what I used to love and I am excited about the future.

Trend Alert: Off the Shoulder

One of my favorite trends right now is the off the shoulder look. I find this look to be sophisticated yet edgy at the same time. Shoulders have been considered scandalous, mostly at my school, for the longest time and it is time to show some skin.

Burnt orange is a big color for the summer and this outfit reminds me of something that I would wear if I was visiting a beach in another country. I like adding a few pieces of jewelry so the focus is not taken away from the dress. I love the hat how it adds a bit of a bohemian touch to it so I decided to add a bag and shoes to match it.

This is a different type of style, known as the ‘cold shoulder’. I love the top of the dress it is quite different with unique colors. I like to match shoes with the bags. I imagine this dress being worn on the islands of Greece just enjoying the view. With a high ponytail, the hoop earrings will look amazing with the outfit.

This look is a bit edgy with the ripped shorts and the black shoes. This is something that I might possibly wear to a music festival or just a night out to town. I love the top with the lacey details as it contrasts with the rest of the outfit to give it a soft touch.

This outfit is also different as the off the shoulder trend is on a romper. I love the bright colors that are perfect for spring and summer, especially the blue is huge for the season. I love blue and to be able to add color to this outfit, it creates the perfect touch. Since the shoes have gold metal, I decided to add a few pieces of accessories that match the metals. The beach hat also adds a fun touch to it.

This a casual outfit where the floral top juxtaposes distressed boyfriend jeans. I added espadrilles because they are easy and fun to wear. Espadrilles are the perfect summer shoes because they do not have to horrible to wear in such hot conditions.
I absolutely love this trend and you will be able to find similar items at Urban Outfitters, Zara, Forever 21 and many more!

TV Outfits: Jane Quimby

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they experience the worst, when their favorite TV show is canceled. As much as I hope that Jane by Design will have a new season (curse you ABC Family), or have the show on Netflix, it will always be in my heart. Ever since the show aired when I was in 8th grade, I thought it was cute. But than it turned into this amazing show that inspired me, it showed me what I wanted to do in life and that is be apart of the fashion world. Jane Quimby has been someone to inspire my outfits as she was a character who knew what she wanted to do, even when others didn’t believe in her dreams. I love how her character makes most of her own clothes, which I would love to do. Sadly I won’t be able to wear some of her outfits (like the 3 inch heels) until I am out of college as others do not believe it is acceptable to wear heels in school, it is nice to dream.

I would love to wear this dress, when I get married.

This happens to be my all time favorite dress of hers that I wish to wear to prom!

How to Dress Like Jane:
Sadly the clothes she once wore are all gone since the show ended almost 2 years ago (sadly crying in the corner), but looking at vintage or very unique and cute pieces can work. Wear lot of tulle skirts, that is what I can say along mixing print is a major plus. Just have fun with it, her style is so her own which makes me love it so much! And I would recommend wearing heels, but I don’t know about wearing them in high school though. Yikes.

Too bad this show was canceled, it help me realize who I am, and I guess I am not longer lost on what I want to do in life.

I do not own these pictures.
