Sorority Recruitment Outfits

Hello! Long time, no see! I am currently trying to get back into blogging and possibly YouTube so please bare with me.

As I finished my Freshman Year of college, I am preparing for my Sophomore Year. I have decided that I would Rush during my first few weeks back at school. I have watched SO many, not an exaggeration, ‘sorority outfits and what to expect videos’ to get an idea of the process. I am currently rematching the TV show “Greek” and reading blogs which makes me more excited about the whole thing!

I will be providing an idea of what I might possibly wear during the rounds and hope you get some inspiration from them as well!.

Round 1and 2: This round is when you are in your groups and visit each sorority house. Usually it takes 2 days for each round, depending on how many houses there are. This day requires you to wear the shirt that you were given with cute shorts or skirt and comfortable walking shoes.

I found these shorts from Francesca’s so make sure to find a pair that will match your t shirts. I am in to flowy shorts because it is going to be extremely hot and I hate the feeling of sweaty jean shorts. You will need to find shorts that are appropriate and great to make a first impression so no rips and no short shorts.
I picked shorts over skirts because me and skirts/dresses do not have the best relationship because they always tend to fly up :).

Round 3: For my school, this is the Philanthropy round. It is different for every school so make sure to learn what the schedule is. This round is where you dress up a bit, wear a cute little sundress and some heels (preferably wedges) that you can possibly walk in. You will be able to learn about each of their philanthropy and their activities.

All these dresses are from Lulus. I have been obsessed with the cold shoulder look so the first 2 I absolutely love. Some are casual sundresses, some are more fancier, I think it depends on how you are feeling that day.

Round 4: Preference is the time where you need to be the most dressiest. It is the final round during recruitment where you will visit the final 2 houses. This is a really important round so you want to be your best and look your best. You will need to find a cocktail style dress and a nice pair heels.

All these dresses are also from Lulus. Yes, I absolutely love the trend of off the shoulder. These are some of my picks and I might end up getting the purple one. I have been told that the active sisters wear black so try to stay away from that the best you can.

Round 5: Bid Day is the last day of Rush where after everything, you will find out what sorority gave you a bid. This is the most exciting day and most comfortable outfit by wearing a tank top, gym shorts and running shoes because you might have to run far to your new house!

I hope you are excited for Rush as much as I am and I hope I helped with inspiration on what to wear. I will try to create a blogpost on what I end up wearing.

Don’t be nervous, have fun, and be yourself!

Until next time!

If you are currently experiencing a very dreary day filled with a mixture of snow and rain, like me, you are probably wishing it was summer. Although summer is not coming for another few months, it does not hurt to look at the pretty sun dresses that will be perfect for those few sunny spring days. Here a few of my favorite finds that I found online and in store.

Summer Haul 2014 | Alis Chic

Hey everyone! Last Sunday, I finally uploaded a new haul based of the many items I purchased throughout the month of June and July! I was a bit nervous during the video which I really do not know why but at the end it was fun. I love making videos and trying to consistently upload them every Sunday (which you should totally check out my channel here)! In my latest video I shared what I got from Forever 21, Ulta, Nordstrom, H&M and Urban Outfitters! Please like, subscribe and comment if you want!

Alis in 2013

I started this blog about early September of 2012 for a try in fashion and writing, I was not very into fashion back then but I wanted to see where it would lead me. I also had been writing poems, and reviews for my school newspaper that I dream of inspiring others through difficult times (but there is not that many posts about that on here).
Alis is like my name Elyse (A-lees) but I did not give that blog a name until later. It was actually the name the Starbucks person put on my first drink from there after I had freshmen orientation. I guess by ordering a drink from a popular place could lead into this, or it was the only idea I had to change my name. I had a blog post about the name change a while ago but I don’t feel like finding it oh well.
So as I sit here inside the little place where we are staying in the mountains of Colorado, while stars like Christina Aguilera, Shaun White and Leonardo DiCaprio are skiing (I’m literally sore from my lesson yesterday that I could not even walk back to the condo and I can barely even walk around, so don’t be like “girl what are you doing inside for writing this post about”) I would like to share my favorite posts of the year before 2013 closes.
I would like to saw thank you to everyone who has followed me, read my posts or get annoyed by my posts on instagram and twitter, you have made me all so happy as I have gotten over 2,160 + views and over 100 posts. A few websites have contacted with me about my outfits and I hope that soon, that you guys can get the courage to be my buddy (or not but that is perfectly cool because like, I really don’t know how to interact with others through online). Anyway, I should start rambling and share my favorite posts of the year that either inspire others or I absolutely loved the outfits, pictures or writings that I have shared with everyone of you!

I hope everyone of you has an awesome new year and hope 2014 treats us all well. I am currently in Colorado so I do not have any fancy as I did not think I should have brought something for New Years. So I might watch the fireworks in town or watch the Doctor Who episode that I have been trying to watch! Oh well, have a nice and safe New Year.

Polyvore-mas 12/1-12/6

I’ve been obsessed with vlogmas, I will most likely be participating in it next December, and I have thought of making an outfit each day. I promise to my sets that are pretty. I have made more than one set a day.

I’ve been leaning into dark colors and dresses so I went for something more casual and fun.

Just a casual day walking around the city.

A cute, fancy skirt and shoes that it is balanced out with the simple gray sweater.

My favorite outfit out of all of them, its dressy and casual at the same time.

A nice outfit to wear on Christmas morning with hipster glasses. It would be fun to wear opening presents, watching Elf, and sitting by the fire, drinking hot chocolate ready a good book. Maybe not all at the same time.

A night out in town, probably to walk around and look at the Christmas lights.

TV Outfits: Mary Queen of Scots

As everyone knows, I am kind of obsessed with princess, princes and living the royal life (currently writing a book about a princess). My parents call me Princess as I am kind of high maintenance. My parents used to buy me books about Princess Diana and her life because I was born the day after her funeral (yeah my parents believe I could have her soul or something). As much as I would LOVE to do a post dedicated to the late princess, I am writing about a certain Queen on a certain show that I have been obsessed with, the last couple of days.

Reign is not the most historically accurate piece of work out there, but I love how the fashion style is very elegant and beautiful.

To Dress Like Mary:
As a Queen, Mary must wear proper gowns but this is um reality so I suggest to go for short dresses. I suggest Free People as they have some dream like dresses or try out a vintage store for some treasures.
She also trends to wear a hairpiece so I suggest to find a cute gemmed headband or pretty ribbon.

P.S. If you haven’t watched it before, you totally should because there are some really hot men in the show!

I do not own the photos.

TV Outfits: Blair Waldorf

Watching reruns of Gossip Girl has been my life lately and I am obsessed with the fabulous Blair Waldorf’s clothing. Although she is know as the Queen of Mean, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a love, for style. Her Audrey Hepburn and old-fashioned movie star classic clothing makes her a very sophisticated business women, other than her known high school games.

How to Dress Like Blair Waldorf:

I always wondered how and where I can get simple items to complete a Blair Waldorf outfit, even Google-ling it. But it doesn’t matter where you buy and how much, it is mostly what you buy and how you pair it. Even though I found a Blair piece at Bloomingdale’s (in the Ted Baker section), it is much more than a simple top or dress.

Try adding

  • tights
  • headbands
  • coats
  • finding classic pieces at the closest thrift shoppes
  • And finding girly pieces at stores like Forever 21
