Celebrating Another Decade!

On September 7th, 1997, this young girl was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. She went on to live in three different states, have many career ideas in her mind, lost interest in all things she loved but that did not stop her from going forward in life. Today, that girl is still trying to figure out what she wants at the prime age of 20. Gosh, I am old!

I recently started my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina. So, I wanted to give you a little update on what has been happening in my life so far. I went through sorority recruitment with lots of tears and twisted ankles. I joined the house where I feel the most conformable in so I would like to say I am officially an Alpha Gamma Delta.

For those who do not know sorority recruitment, it is pretty much a process where you are trying to show girls that you are meant to be apart of their sisterhood. Sadly, I had to deal with a lot of judgements during the process but by the end of it, I was able to call one of my favorite houses my home.

For my birthday I was able to celebrate in style with my new sisters at my first function, Fall Band. Although I did not stay there very long, I was able to wear my outfit that I have been hoarding for months. I absolutely love this romper from Urban Outfitters as it shows some skin but not too much to make it revealing.

This coming week, I will be initiated so I will be an Alpha Gam for life, which is kind of scary to me. I am excited and nervous for what is left to come. I absolutely love my big and I am slowly and surely making friends but it is still early in the semester.

Other than my life being about Greek Life, I am taking classes in my major, looking for internships and possibly double minoring. I am still trying to discover who I am, which I still hard. But I am only 20.

I will attempt to make a return on blogging, probably not too soon, but I do miss being able to take pictures of my outfits and writing. I am debating whether I should continue with this blog or not, and I doubt that people are reading anymore. I just hope to go back to what I used to love and I am excited about the future.

Sorority Recruitment Outfits

Hello! Long time, no see! I am currently trying to get back into blogging and possibly YouTube so please bare with me.

As I finished my Freshman Year of college, I am preparing for my Sophomore Year. I have decided that I would Rush during my first few weeks back at school. I have watched SO many, not an exaggeration, ‘sorority outfits and what to expect videos’ to get an idea of the process. I am currently rematching the TV show “Greek” and reading blogs which makes me more excited about the whole thing!

I will be providing an idea of what I might possibly wear during the rounds and hope you get some inspiration from them as well!.

Round 1and 2: This round is when you are in your groups and visit each sorority house. Usually it takes 2 days for each round, depending on how many houses there are. This day requires you to wear the shirt that you were given with cute shorts or skirt and comfortable walking shoes.

I found these shorts from Francesca’s so make sure to find a pair that will match your t shirts. I am in to flowy shorts because it is going to be extremely hot and I hate the feeling of sweaty jean shorts. You will need to find shorts that are appropriate and great to make a first impression so no rips and no short shorts.
I picked shorts over skirts because me and skirts/dresses do not have the best relationship because they always tend to fly up :).

Round 3: For my school, this is the Philanthropy round. It is different for every school so make sure to learn what the schedule is. This round is where you dress up a bit, wear a cute little sundress and some heels (preferably wedges) that you can possibly walk in. You will be able to learn about each of their philanthropy and their activities.

All these dresses are from Lulus. I have been obsessed with the cold shoulder look so the first 2 I absolutely love. Some are casual sundresses, some are more fancier, I think it depends on how you are feeling that day.

Round 4: Preference is the time where you need to be the most dressiest. It is the final round during recruitment where you will visit the final 2 houses. This is a really important round so you want to be your best and look your best. You will need to find a cocktail style dress and a nice pair heels.

All these dresses are also from Lulus. Yes, I absolutely love the trend of off the shoulder. These are some of my picks and I might end up getting the purple one. I have been told that the active sisters wear black so try to stay away from that the best you can.

Round 5: Bid Day is the last day of Rush where after everything, you will find out what sorority gave you a bid. This is the most exciting day and most comfortable outfit by wearing a tank top, gym shorts and running shoes because you might have to run far to your new house!

I hope you are excited for Rush as much as I am and I hope I helped with inspiration on what to wear. I will try to create a blogpost on what I end up wearing.

Don’t be nervous, have fun, and be yourself!

Until next time!

Dorm Room Essentials from Bed, Bath and Beyond*

I have been waiting for this this time of year to finally buy materials for my dorm room. There was never an idea what I had wanted to do to my room for theme wise, it is rather about what I like and incorporate with everything else. I am the type of person who loves color, more like too much color, so I decided to buy items that will not make my side of the room like a rainbow and won’t clash with my roommate and her colors.

I love the colors blue and gray and that they were the perfect soft touch to my room. Being extremely into fashion, I had to buy a set of hangers for all of my clothes. I think these hangers are useful because they are quite slim that no matter how many pieces of clothing I have, I would still have some room left in the closet. They have rubber ends so it helps keeping the clothes from falling off.

The gray box is a cute little bin for under bed storage, which includes striped fabric inside. I wanted something that could be neutral in the room and I was never the biggest fan of the big, see through, plastic containers. I liked the ones from Bed. Bath and Beyond because they came in a few different sizes and colors such as mint, black and gray.

I bought a small make up holder because, other than the pretty blue color, I do not have the largest collection of makeup. If you are looking for something that holds all of your makeup, think of the size of your collection. There are a few different sizes available, not matter how big the collection may be. A trick that I use is that I like to keep all of my makeup brushes in a pencil holder, it is organized and makes the room pretty based on the design of it.

This cute little garbage can was pretty unique and small enough to hide underneath my desk. I wasn’t too interested in those metal trashcans so I decided to find something different. The trashcan comes in a few different colors, including splash paint, which I had wanted to get. To keep the colors neutral, I opted for this one.

Being a college student, laundry is one of the big experiences that I will have to go through. I decided to buy a laundry bag that is completely durable and cute at the same time. Who says laundry has to be mundane? So to make it fun, I had to buy something that I love, especially one with gold polka dots.

Bed, Bath and Beyond has helped me find my college essentials without making it so difficult. I love shopping here for college materials because they have basic and unique finds at decent prices. I also love their decor and bedding that is reasonable for college student budgets. Bed, Bath and Beyond has helped me find everything on my list for my dorm.

My Major College Road Trip

I have finally finished my exams, now I have time for outfit pictures, but here are a few pictures that I found from my ‘Major College Road Trip’. One our way, we stopped at University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a beach town. And also a place where One Tree Hill was filmed, Wrightsville beach.

We stopped at University of South Carolina, I loved the main campus with all the old architecture. Also the flowers were in bloom giving it a very romantic feel. One of my favorite teachers has gone to this school, maybe I would end up in her footsteps along with getting a job in another country.

I went to College of Charleston to visit. I felt like maybe this could be one of my top choices. I love the nature and the city which my dad’s cousin (who was a student and now works there) showed us around. I am also on the look out for background in case I go there and I need to shoot OOTDs.

After trouble finding hotels due to the Masters all the way in Georgia, we woke up bright and early in a hotel by a railroad tracks and track stop (my mom was so scared that we would die by barricading the door with a chair). We were on our way to Elon, where we met up with my cousin. I thought I wouldn’t care because I would like to go somewhere else other than my cousin, but I fell in love. Elon is one of the top colleges on my list other than the beautiful campus, the communications program is literally amazing. I loved the business building and I have everything planned out from that. More like I want to major in Marketing and minor in Communications.

We stopped at Wake Forest to check out the campus. I would not be able to go by the tuition but my mom’s cousin had gone and she used to go see him play football. I believe the campus was really pretty, but it was not for me.

IMG_3836 IMG_3838 IMG_3839 IMG_3844

Currently, I am confused on the future and where to go because if I would be able to get in and tuition wise. I hope to continue to see what I like on a campus. I look for the way to incorporate it within posts and videos along with a way to study marketing and communications and be able to work on the school TV station. The reason my mom went on this trip, other than to look at the colleges is to see what kind of campus that I like.

I had always want to be in the city, to not miss out on the real world. But I realize maybe I should go to a college town to experience the real college life, sororities, football games and the everything else included.

Hopefully by this time next year, I will know what I want to do later in life and where I would be going. Until then, I will be living my senior year as much as I can. Because time is almost up and you have to enjoy as much as you can.

Review: Her Campus Book

Going to college may seem like the best four years of your life when you get to grow up, but at the same time, it is the scariest. Being a junior in high school has me thinking on where to go to school based on academics, the campus and the food. But it keeps me blinded about the other situations that I might face when I reach orientation.

Being an Her Campus High School Ambassador and apart of the Her Campus Blogger Network, I was excited to hear about their new book. It is not like those books where it tells you what is the better school, but rather how to get through college and become apart of the grown up world.

The Her Campus Guide to College gives more insight on how to create relationships, be aware of creepers, being healthy and how finding a job once graduation is over.

I love that this book shows real life situations and how to be able to handle them and not have it end like a Halloween episode of Pretty Little Liars. It is a great idea for parents to give to the growing children to give them guidance when transitioning to a higher level of school or college seniors ready to tackle the new world of finding a job. Share it with your friends and even share it with your grandmother who wants to get back into college.

Everyone can find help within this book and I promise that you will not gain the Freshmen 15. You will not regret getting this book as there is so much to know and prepare for, including the Sorority life and passing finals.
