Holiday Outfits 2016

During this time of the year, it is always hard to figure out what to wear to holiday parties and different events. I have created a few outfits that I would wear to celebrate the holiday season! I hope you will be inspired by these as well.

The dress is involves on of the trendy fabrics of the season, velvet. I love velvets especially when they are a garnet color, I am also a huge fan of the leather collar. The leather collar has a cut out to give it an edgy feel. I wanted to match the color to the shoes and the bag soI decided to pair more black leather with the outfit. The shoes are my absolute favorite as they have a chunky heel. I wanted to add a cute plaid scarf along with sparkly eyeshadow with a plain lip.

This outfit is rather glamorous and bombshell like. I love this pale pink because it is easy to add statement pieces of it. Hip hugging and body con dresses are a major trend of the season. I absolutely love this fur coat, faux fur of course, as it gives it a diva feel. I paired it with red pieces because it represents that holiday colors along with making the outfit more dramatic.

You don’t always have wear a one piece to dress up. I paired this velvet tank with this leather skirt with the most amazing design at the bottom of the skirt. I wanted to have the focus more on the top so I decided to make everything black or a neutral color. A teased ponytail would make this outfit feel more edgy.

There is always the one to dress up a bit girly like, including me sometimes, so I decided to add gold and soft pink tones. I love the design of the dress and the bag can help provide comfort by adding a few pick me ups or hide a little emergency kit if there is a wardrobe malfunction. I absolutely love the hair style because it is not too much and the eye shadow has more of a bronzy tone to it.
I hope you all had a nice holiday season and happy new year! Let’s hope 2017 is even better!

Alis in 2013

I started this blog about early September of 2012 for a try in fashion and writing, I was not very into fashion back then but I wanted to see where it would lead me. I also had been writing poems, and reviews for my school newspaper that I dream of inspiring others through difficult times (but there is not that many posts about that on here).
Alis is like my name Elyse (A-lees) but I did not give that blog a name until later. It was actually the name the Starbucks person put on my first drink from there after I had freshmen orientation. I guess by ordering a drink from a popular place could lead into this, or it was the only idea I had to change my name. I had a blog post about the name change a while ago but I don’t feel like finding it oh well.
So as I sit here inside the little place where we are staying in the mountains of Colorado, while stars like Christina Aguilera, Shaun White and Leonardo DiCaprio are skiing (I’m literally sore from my lesson yesterday that I could not even walk back to the condo and I can barely even walk around, so don’t be like “girl what are you doing inside for writing this post about”) I would like to share my favorite posts of the year before 2013 closes.
I would like to saw thank you to everyone who has followed me, read my posts or get annoyed by my posts on instagram and twitter, you have made me all so happy as I have gotten over 2,160 + views and over 100 posts. A few websites have contacted with me about my outfits and I hope that soon, that you guys can get the courage to be my buddy (or not but that is perfectly cool because like, I really don’t know how to interact with others through online). Anyway, I should start rambling and share my favorite posts of the year that either inspire others or I absolutely loved the outfits, pictures or writings that I have shared with everyone of you!

I hope everyone of you has an awesome new year and hope 2014 treats us all well. I am currently in Colorado so I do not have any fancy as I did not think I should have brought something for New Years. So I might watch the fireworks in town or watch the Doctor Who episode that I have been trying to watch! Oh well, have a nice and safe New Year.

How to Style a Puffy Jacket

Today, where I live is about to be hit with a winter storm. I am obviously procrastinating with math homework and decided to go outside in the snow to take pictures! I have been thinking of different outfits to style with this puffy jacket from H&M.013 014 016

I thought of a Christmas party look as well. I recommend not wearing heels in the snow, I was slipping and so close to falling down, but I surprisingly did not. And I did not notice how short the dress was, but I was not cold at all.

How I Style a Floppy Hat

I have been obsessed with Polyvore lately, I have been making more than one outfit a day! I think I might need an intervention, but before that happens I would like to share a piece that I have been obsessed with!
I don’t own a floppy hat, yet (I might ask for it for Christmas), I have had a fun time making sets to putting an outfit together with a black floppy hat (sadly the website I found the hat on, it is sold out).ySince it has gotten cold a lot lately, I have been making sets for the winter time. I absolutely love this dress from Jack Wills. It is totally perfect for a casual dinner or a walk through the park at night preferably in Central Park at night (if that’s allowed) with Christmas lights everywhere. But if you do, make sure you bundle up.

yThis a more classier outfit. I absolutely love the color of the coat. Mint is my new favorite color and I have always wanted to try the quilted skirt.yI find this outfit more casual, maybe for a school day or walking around the city. I have thought that since I am sometimes preppy (I guess I get it from living in Boston for 8 years), I believe this could be a little preppy.

y An outfit which I believe could work as it shows off my edgy style! I am literally obsessed with plaid!

yMy mostly TopShop outfit that I made a while ago!

Glad You Came

Today instead of me posing for my pictures and outfit of the day, I picked one of my very stylish friends. We had a no uniform day today before Thanksgiving break and I absolutely love her outfit! Isn’t her hair cool?

New York, concrete jungles where dreams are made of

There is nothing you can’t do in New York

Yesterday I felt like Carrie Bradshaw on the streets of New York, amazed by the stores, inspired by the lights. I had went on a school like trip, it was not mandatory it was for those who wanted to go see a Broadway show. This great city is where I would love to move after high school to pursue a career in fashion, like writing for my most favorite magazine or hopefully creating clothes or putting an outfit together for someone on the red carpet.

But that is in a few more years… So here are some of the pictures I took yesterday. Sorry for my awkward face.

I was surprisingly sweating at 49 degrees, maybe because I’ve been living up north for 8 years or something.

It took me four floors and two times of going to Forever 21 to finally buy something in New York along with five other stores.

Oh yeah can I officially say that I kinda met Bethany Mota, with someone that accidentally walked into the picture, sorry.

046We had pizza at John’s Pizzeria, which was decorated for Christmas. Surprisingly we were allowed to do whatever we wanted before the show so a couple of sixteen year olds walked the the streets of New York alone, during the almost “Christmas” season. It was awesome!

051I obviously had to go into the Disney store!

060As I left the theater to go back to the bus, a leaf fell onto my scarf. It made me smile because New York has been a home to me, with every time I go there, no matter how old I am, it gives me this sort of happiness that even though I am becoming older, my childhood is still with me.

“you’re shining, like a 5th avenue diamond.
And they don’t make you like they you to
You’re never going out of style.”

So today as my mother and father have traveled to the wedding of my old babysitter’s (which I should be invited to) my aunt and her friend came to visit by taking me to a vintage shop.

I decided to dress up, as to me its casual but to others, wearing a dress is dressy. So I add a little crop top to make it simple.
