Summer Packing List

Every summer my family and I go to the beach for a few days to relax from our crazy schedules. Each year I always try to figure out to pack such as different outfits and little extra materials that I could possibly need, but there are always a few things that I always take with me.

Sunglasses are an outfit essential in the summer time as the sun gets brighter, the harder it is to see. Squinting is an option but it hurts after a while and can also cause wrinkles. It protects eyes from getting a sunburn, yes it does happen, and it also quite stylish because I am always pretending to be Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Every time I go to the beach, I am always trying to finish my reading list for school. After a few hours in the water, it is nice to sit underneath a beach umbrella and get absorbed into a book. Being a book nerd, it is nice to hear the sounds of the ocean that make me relax and enjoy my book so much more.

In the summer, flip flops are my go to shoe because they are so easy to just slip on and go. Feet can finally breathe and can help make the sock tan line go away. Flip flops do not always have to be boring, there are all types of styles. I currently own a black pair I got from Target because they go with everything, especially my black bathing suit. There are platform flip flops and some with jewels on the straps, they are literally something that can fit everyone’s unique styles.

Many people would not think to bring money to the beach. There might be an ice cream man passing by or a cute store on the boardwalk, it is always better to carry a few bills in case of an emergency such as seeing a cute pair of earrings or an ice cream on a hot day.

Going on vacation may seem relaxing but it can be stressful with family and activities that calm is much needed. The beach also is not always relaxing when there is sand flying everywhere and sea gulls attacking. I love listening to soft tunes that can help me  playlist includes Cody Simpson, Jack Johnson, Elvis Presley and John Mayer, also possibly the Beach Boys.

Although staying in a hotel is convenient because you have someone to clean up after you, I think renting a house makes the experience much more fun. Staying in a house rather than a hotel makes someone less of a tourist and more of a traveler as they try to discover more than the main attraction, it is like creating a more personal relationship with an adventure.

Review: Her Campus Book

Going to college may seem like the best four years of your life when you get to grow up, but at the same time, it is the scariest. Being a junior in high school has me thinking on where to go to school based on academics, the campus and the food. But it keeps me blinded about the other situations that I might face when I reach orientation.

Being an Her Campus High School Ambassador and apart of the Her Campus Blogger Network, I was excited to hear about their new book. It is not like those books where it tells you what is the better school, but rather how to get through college and become apart of the grown up world.

The Her Campus Guide to College gives more insight on how to create relationships, be aware of creepers, being healthy and how finding a job once graduation is over.

I love that this book shows real life situations and how to be able to handle them and not have it end like a Halloween episode of Pretty Little Liars. It is a great idea for parents to give to the growing children to give them guidance when transitioning to a higher level of school or college seniors ready to tackle the new world of finding a job. Share it with your friends and even share it with your grandmother who wants to get back into college.

Everyone can find help within this book and I promise that you will not gain the Freshmen 15. You will not regret getting this book as there is so much to know and prepare for, including the Sorority life and passing finals.

Find this book on Amazon and Barnes & Nobles. Check out Her Campus for more!

And I promise that it completes your college bookshelf (and your artsy dorm decor).

Thank you to Her Campus for partnering with me on this post. All opinions are my own.

1. I have a strong desire to travel, but I hate planes. I really cannot go by car much longer either as sitting just makes me anxious after a few hours. Despite wanting to go to London, Sydney and L.A. I cannot travel on a plane for a little more than 4 hours or else I also get anxious. As you can see I get anxious a lot.
2. A Cinderella Story is my favorite movie of all time. The movie with Hillary Duff as the main girl. I love the music they play along with the story line, I am still waiting as the outcast girl to have a kiss in the rain with the quarterback of the football team.

Favorite moment right there! ^
3. My music is completely random. Although I cannot sing I do sing to different genres of songs from the Frozen soundtrack to All Time Low to Iggy Azalea.
4. I have an obsession with bunnies! Even though I had one when I was 8, I really started wanting one again. Maybe name her Alice. I even have a bunny shaped lamp.
5. I am a hopeless romantic. If you haven’t known, I love the whole Romeo and Juliet type of stories, make sure it has a happy ending. I hope one day I can get my happy ending despite the horrors of real life.
6. The Gallagher Girls Series is my favorite series of all time! I have read each book about 5 times and I still love them. The funny moment is I feel like Cammie Morgan and I are like one person.
7. I named a sack of sugar Lucas Ashton Calum Clifford. In Psych class we had to carry around a sack of sugar and pretend it was a baby so I named it after the members of my favorite band 5 Seconds of Summer.
I would like to thank you for reading my posts along with sticking with my random posts whatever they may be about.
I kind of literally went through my Twitter feed to figure on what to put as my facts and items.

Anxiety and Panic Attacks

I have received a few or less comments (more like one) on my Surviving the First Day of School post, about how I should have more real life or advice columns. As I could not think of anything going on school wise, I thought of how I had something that kind of affects some others.

I never fully understood the true meaning of ‘anxiety’ or ‘panic attacks’ but they are truly one of the most unpleasant feelings. I have been dealing with these for I do not know how long, but it seems like a very long time. I recently started noticing it ever since my 7th Grade Science Fair and I could not breath the whole time to school and as soon as I stepped into the building, I called my mom to pick me up since I was crying hysterically along with that I could not breath and I was overwhelmed.

To me, I get this feeling of pressure against my chest which makes me feel uncomfortable and I literally can not breath. It would either last a few minutes or it could go on for a very long time. I usually experience with them by over thinking (which I try not to do and is kind of a bad thing) or worrying about something that would potentially happen or it would randomly just happen.

Yes, many people do experience panic attacks but they most likely get over them, while others, including me have been suffering from them. Just a few days ago, I had came to school not being able to breath and as soon I was picked up, I felt the very same but it seemed worse as that I also had a cold and my nose was stuffy so that made it worse. My mom (who also suffers with it also) told me that I could always go to ER if I would like, but that would just freak me out more.

Panic attacks to me are very serious and sometimes I would cry because of the feeling that it had caused me. Sadly I get them sometimes before school, which is not a good thing because I have to be there for the next 2 or so years. Also this is why I am pretty much lazy, because whenever I do something it will spark it and that is why I am afraid to go to my dance classes sometimes because it hurts a little. I stay in my house most weekends doing nothing because I cannot go outside and face my fear of getting a panic attack. I cannot even text my close friends and I will never understand how that affects me in that way. I always feel like that there is a rock against my chest with water filling it up and I am scared.

But I have found other ways to avoid getting panic attacks.

  1. Exercise, it helps sometimes and it is a great way to stay fit. It will also lessen the frequency.
  2. Go against it and do something adventurous even if you get a panic attack.
  3. Keep breathing, try as hard as you can even if it hurts.
  4. Don’t be scared, do not overthink. Put a reminder in your phone not to overthink at all.
  5. Get a self-help book or talk to someone about and maybe they will help you.

I really appreciate that you guys are reading this. I really want to help you all with anything that has been bothering you and panic attacks have been bothering me lately so I may not include a lot as I could, I hope you check our my favorite fashion blogger/YouTuber Zoella (click on her name) who also has both a video and a post with anxiety and panic attacks advice which I know will be helpful.

If you need advice for anything, just tweet me, instagram me, or leave a comment and I will try my best to help.
